Last week we were lucky enough to have Maite Tuset give recommendations and tips to some of the MAC customers at our local MAC store.

Not only is Maite knowledgable (she is a MAC Senior Artist here in Spain), but she is also a very warm and kind person.

She gave me recommendations on which types of products to use based on my skin type – some were old acquaintances but others were new to me – and she also suggested a smokey eye look to bring out my brown eyes.

As always, getting to sit in one of the high chairs at the store is getting into a fun and enjoyable time.

The base of the smokey eye was a dark brownish-aubergine fluidline eye pencil (first time I saw them). Then a golden-brown sheer fluidline and Twinks eyeshadow.

The trick that I loved was using a 168 brush to apply a very fine dusting of Bronze eyeshadow over the whole burgundy-brownish eye look. It gave the most fantastic subtle reflection to the look without disturbing the work done previously on the lid.

She said that Amber Lights is also a good eyeshadow to use for a reflective effect, and I of course have put it to test. I loved it over the On and on bronze Color Tattoo by Maybelline and another day I also used it as a highlighter for a more bronzed and summery look. On another day I even dusted it over my mostly bare lips. I loved the metallized effect!

The next variation that I am going to try revolves around golden olive greens. It might work, right?
