MAC Faerie Whispers: Spelldazzling, Cheek Pollen and A Sprinkle of Magic

MAC Faerie Whispers haul

In my recent visit to the local MAC store I simply could not resist the beautiful Faerie Whispers collection, so here I am sharing my thoughts and some images of some of the products that I picked up.

The MAC Faerie Whispers collection had quite a few products in it, featuring many neutral shades and shimmery formulas. All in all, very flattering although perhaps quite dupable as well.

I don’t usually pay much attention to the nail polishes by MAC, but could you have resisted this one? (If you did, then you are stronger than me!).

Kiko Cosmetics Best Friends Forever collection

Kiko Milano has launched a cute as a button limited edition called Best Friends Forever just in time for Valentine’s Day.

As you could expect, this collection has plenty of reds and pinks and hearts to satisfy any cravings for them that you may have had.

The collection has quite a few items, including pencils, lipliners, face powders and mascara, which I did not pick. But let me tell you my opinion on the items that I did pick.

True Love Nail Lacquer in 03 Red Kiss: this nailpolish reminded me of the matt sugar ones that I enjoyed so much. It dries onto a matte sand texture but it has pink shimmer that reflects light.

My Mac Philip Treacy picks

Mac Blush Pink, Genuine Treasure and Hollywood Cerise

I originally thought that this collection would be online only in my country, so it was a welcome surprise to find the Philip Treacy collection displayed in my Mac Store.

I could not resist picking up one of the gorgeously embossed iluminating powders, a paint pot and a bright lipstick as if I did not already own a gazillion bright lipsticks!

Mac is Beauty lipsticks

IMG_1668

These are the lipsticks I picked up from the Mac is Beauty collection. When I saw what the names of the lipsticks that I had picked were, I was amused. What must the planning meetings be like at Mac one wonders.

In the past, I would always have gone for the bright and opaque shades, but as I am trying to give a bit of variety to my lipstick collection this time I choose both a formula and a shade that I would not have chosen before.

Kiko Free Spirit Lips and Cheeks

Kiko Free Spirit Lips and Cheeks in 01 Hearty Peach and 04 Typical Dahlia

Let me introduce you to my picks from Kiko’s Modern Tribes collection.

Although there were some seriously nice offerings (go to Kiko’s website and drool over the powders’ packaging!) I choose to try two of their Free Spirit Lips and Cheeks pencils as I had yet to try one of these multipurpose type of pencils.

They have six shades available, including a nice red, but I opted for the more neutral or natural shades. I usually go for the bright colours so I thought that a change would be nice.

The pencils are 8,90€ each and contain 4,5 g of product. Also, inside each box comes a jumbo pencil sharpener, which I thought was a nice touch on their part.

Unconventional lipsticks: Kiko Luscious cream in 523 and 524

Let me introduce you to the unconventional beauties that are the Kiko Luscious Cream lipsticks in 523 (black) and 524 (taupe).

If you browse beauty blogs, you will frequently find plenty of looks that showcase more unconventional colours than you are used to seeing in glossy magazines. This search for original looks and rainbow colours has originated the creation of some brands that thrive in that niche sector.

However, reluctant as I am to buy colour products without being able to test them first, I contented myself with ooohing and aaahin over such looks.

Luckily for me, Kiko Cosmetics has in its permanent range some colours that are very interesting and that expand its range into the less mainstream options.

New: L’Oréal Collection Exclusive Pure Reds

IMG_0800

Let me introduce you to my latest fail when it comes to resisting a red lipstick, and I failed in a big way as I came home with the complete range of these beautiful bold lipsticks inspired by different actresses that are the L’Oréal Collection Exclusive Pure Reds.

When I saw news online about the launch of these I thought I might grab one or two (like I did in past launches of the L’Oréal Exclusive range), but I simply could not resist the selection of colours, specially since many of them lean pink and I think those kinds of reds suit me better.

Mac store visit

MAC Studio Moisture Tint and MAC Lightful serum

In a recent visit to my Mac store, I went in with a plan and I stuck to it, which is always a good thing when you are confronted with plenty of pretty things.

IMG_0425
MAC Studio Moisture Tint in Light

This summer I attended a Mac Masterclass where the latest summer trends were shown. During the session, I explained my eternal problem with trying to find a foundation that I like and that my skin likes as well and the MUA suggested I try their tinted moisturizer, the Studio Mositure Tint. I have really enjoyed it, but it soon became apparent that Medium dark was not my shade even in summer (I’m NC20 in summer). So the first point in my attack plan was to get the tinted moisturizer in Light so I can mix them and adapt it to my current skin tone.

New: Kiko purchases

Kiko Tropical Waterproof Eyeliner in 05 Piranha Purple and Luscious Cream lipstick in 524 Taupe

I recently stopped by Kiko and could not resist going home with two new little treasures.

On one hand I got my hands on the beautiful Luscious Cream Lipstick in 524 Taupe (6.90€ for 3.5g). This is a step outside my comfort zone as I have been staying away from anything brownish. Everytime I saw this lipstick at the store I wondered how one could pull it off without looking clownish or like the walking dead. Well after seeing the fantastic Linda Halberg pull of plenty of cooled browns and taupes recently, I thought why not?
