Bye byes: a liquid eye shadow and a pencil eye shadow

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint and Nyx Jumbo pencils

Because I think that posts that review favourites are as useful for a blog’s readers as posts showcasing products that didn’t perform as expected, let me introduce you to my new Bye byes post featuring the Nyx Jumbo pencils and Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Paint.

If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen me feature the Nyx Jumbo pencils a few weeks ago on this photograph. I must confess that a couple years ago I bought into the Jumbo pencils hype and ordered a few of them in basic colours. I was very excited when I got them as I intended to use them as eye shadow bases and they had the reputation of being excellent for this purpose.

Claire’s mini sponge

Claire’s haul

I recently visited Claire’s, originally because I wanted to check out their rings, and ended coming home with this small beauty accessories haul.

This review is about the Mini Blending Sponges that I bought. When I saw them, they immediately reminded me of the new mini Beauty Blenders that were launched not that long ago, so as they were very affordable I decided to give them a try. What if I was about to find a good dupe? I simply could not not pick them up!

I was very excited to try them out when I got home.

Each clear box (5,95€) contains 3 of these mini pink sponges which could mean that I could use one or two for concealer and carry one in my make up bag for touch ups.

Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

IMG_1825
Nars Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base

I had been coveting this product for a long time so when a few months back I had this epic haul, one of the items that I bought at the NARS stand was the Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base.

I had been using the Urban Decay Primer Potion for a couple years before so I impatiently waited for my last Urban Decay tube to finally be empty so I could try the Nars Primer.

However, I have mixed feelings about the Nars Primer and I am afraid that I don’t have the best opinion of it.

I had been layering the UD Primer Potion and the Mac Paintpot in Soft Ochre as my eye shadow base to be able to deal with my oily lids and neutralise the veins and pigmentation of my lids.

So when I started using the Nars primer I too layered it with Soft Ochre. Big failure there! The first week alone my eye shadow creased on me three times!

Mac Full Lash Curler

Mac Full Lash Curler

Curling your lashes seems to be a not so secret trick among the beauty bloggers. Chances are that you have read a post or two where the author comments on how curling your lashes will “open your eyes”.

Until recently I only owned a drugstore lash curler and honestly I could not see that much of a difference.

So when in a recent trip to the Mac store I found myself checking out their lash curler, I thought to myself “why not?”

Kiko Nail Lacquer

Kiko Nail Lacquer

I took advantage of a recent sale at Kiko to purchase these three nail polishes. All nail polishes were on sale for 1€ each so I simply did not think about it much.

I’ve been in a teal-aqua-blue loving phase so I ended picking two gorgeous shimmery shades and a basic black.

Each nail polish bottle contains 11mL so I couldn’t be happier with the price-quality ratio. On my nails these nail polishes last up to 4 or 5 days whithout chipping (with a coat of Seche Vite as I always do).

It is very easy to be weak and pick up one of these inexpensive nail polishes, specially when the range of shades is so big that you will always find something that will look nice for that do or event.

Celebrating my first 100 posts

Let’s celebrate!

Yes, join me in celebrating my 100th post on this blog.

If I am honest, when I started this blog I wasn’t even sure that I would get to 100 posts, but the truth is that this milestone has arrived sooner than I expected!

Seeing as 100 posts sounds like you should already know a bit what you are doing with this blogging business, I redid my category and tag system. When I had only a few posts it was easy to simply scroll down looking for that post that I had written on a certain topic, but as the numbers go up it is better to have your categories and tags sorted so that it is easier. You can check out how I sorted them in this page here.

Also, in order to help you if you want to join the decluttering project that I have permanently going on, you can check out both the original page here as well as the new pages I have added on How to depot…, Bye byes and Organization. Check them out as they contain links to useful posts!

What did you do to celebrate your first 100 posts?

Chanel Camélia de Plumes Highlighting Powder

Chanel Camélia de Plumes Highlighting Powder

Here is a product that I had been coveting since it was launched this winter and that I finally succumbed to.

Not only is the Chanel Camélia de Plumes Highlighting Powder a gorgeous thing to look at, but it also was an unusual highlighting shade for me as I tend to go for the more golden tones, so I simply welcomed it into my stash.

The compact comes in a velvet pouch and that also contains a slanted brush. The compact is your traditional black background with the Chanel logo in white.

The embossed motif is really beautiful and detailed and it works very well with the name of the powder.

Kiko Colour Shock Long lasting eyeshadow and Exotic Highlighter

Kiko Colour Shock Rhythmic Blue, Taupe Highlighter and Revolutionary Burgundy

Having drooled over the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize and the Tom Ford Creme Color for Eyes, I knew that I had some cream eye shadow pots of my own that had a similar look and that I could play with while I moaned over the unfairness of life, inaccessible brands and how expensive they are.

So, when I went through my stash I found two of the Kiko Colour Shock Long Lasting Eyeshadows from the Boulevard rock collection of 2014.

I also found a highlighter in a similar packaging. It was the Exotic Highlighter in Taupe from the Lavish Oriental collection of 2012.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask

There are times when you can’t help but be amused by coincidences and right timing.

I had been looking for a new face mask for quite a long time when I ran into a couple posts talking about the The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask.

With such a name it isn’t likely that you will forget about it, but the fact that Caroline Hirons reviewed it and thought that it was a good product that delivered on what it promised put it firmly on my radar. As I have a The Body Shop store in town I simply had to try it and share my opinion.

So if you want to read my two cents on this mask, continue onto the review below.

My Mac Philip Treacy picks

IMG_1595
Mac Blush Pink, Genuine Treasure and Hollywood Cerise

I originally thought that this collection would be online only in my country, so it was a welcome surprise to find the Philip Treacy collection displayed in my Mac Store.

I could not resist picking up one of the gorgeously embossed iluminating powders, a paint pot and a bright lipstick as if I did not already own a gazillion bright lipsticks!
