Having drooled over the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize and the Tom Ford Creme Color for Eyes, I knew that I had some cream eye shadow pots of my own that had a similar look and that I could play with while I moaned over the unfairness of life, inaccessible brands and how expensive they are.

So, when I went through my stash I found two of the Kiko Colour Shock Long Lasting Eyeshadows from the Boulevard rock collection of 2014.

I also found a highlighter in a similar packaging. It was the Exotic Highlighter in Taupe from the Lavish Oriental collection of 2012.

The three products come in glass jars with metallic lids. Very classy.

The cream eye shadows are superb products indeed. You can use them both as eye shadows, eye bases and eye liners and they are truly long lasting. The texture is a bit like a bouncy cream/gel and it is very pigmented. Also, it does not dry too quickly, so you have a small window of time to play with them.

On the other hand, the highlighter is a bit of a odd product. I must confess that this is the first gel highlighter that I own and it is not your traditional gold or silver. It is taupe! It is easily blended out and sheered out, however if you are very pale it can look a bit like a bruise on you. The colour is so nice that I tried to wear it as an eyeshadow. Didn’t work though as it creased.

108 Rhythmic blue is a beautiful intense electric blue.It has a dark blue base with blue and purple microshimmer.

03 Taupe is a sheer taupe base with a surprising combination of blue, pink and silver microshimmer.

102 Revolutionary burgundy is actually a dark brown base with gorgeous bronze and burgundy shimmer.

As you can see on the photograph above which shows the swatches after using a cotton imbibed in micellar water, they are indeed quite long lasting!

Have you tried gel-like eyeshadows? What was your experience with them?

    1. These were limited edition products, but keep your eyes peeled it would not be the first time that they release similar formulas in different collections!

  1. Hello Tirurit,

These remind me of the Bobbi Brown gel liners–I use to wear those as eyeshadows as well. Revolutionary Burgundy looks lovely, however Taupe as a highlighter doesn’t really look like something many people could pull-off. Great colors and swatches.
