When I entered my MAC store to check out the Mac is Beauty collection and saw so many colourful Fluidlines together, I confess that I went a bit mad!
It was a difficult process, but after swatching them I left the store with the 5 shades that I liked most or that were most unusual considering what I already own. Below I have added Deliciously Rich which I first blogged about here.
About shades of blue, make up lights, brushes and more.
Let’s start assuming that I can be a bit of an odd one. So when I tell you that my favourite colour is a very specific shade of blue, you will not be that surprised to hear that.
My favourite shade of blue is “azul añil”. Yep, that specific shade. I had to visit wikipedia to get the English translation, which is indigo. In many places of the mediterranian indigo has been used to add accents to the white washed houses. If you get the chance to visit Chefchaouen, in Morocco, do it, as the blue-rinsed houses create a stunning image.
Anyway, we digress! The thing is that as much as I love blue, it is not that easy to find blue-themed make up looks in a world of neutrals, so when I saw several this week I was really excited!
I really liked Linda Halberg’s Crying paint and Sandra Holmbom’s Blue Lagoon. I may never be able to recreate them but they sure make a statement! I also really liked the simplicity of this Navy and red look by Frida Skoglund that has that bright pop of blue that makes it special. And if I wanted to go more dramatical, there is always this look or this look that I saw on ABH’s instagram.
Is a Kiko store your wallet’s kryptonite? Do you have any staples in your stash that bear the Kiko logo? Do you find yourself entering the store just to check what new products have been launched?
If you replied affirmatively to one of the questions (or all of them!) then you will be as excited as I am about their new Kiko Rewards system!
How does it work you say. Well it could not be easier! You simply download their app, Kiko Rewards, and introduce your details. Once it has been installed, you will be greeted with 200 bonus points on your “card” as a welcome present.
When you visit a store you simply show them the bidi code and they will scan it. And ta dah! That is all you need to do.
A few months back there was a transformative event that had a huge impact on me. Basically, I discovered BeautyBay!
It had some brands that I had been wanting to try for the longest time and some that I already knew. Among the ones that I had been wanting to try.
I had read time and again how their lip tars were great products that offered high pigmentation, could be mixed and stayed on for hours. So of course, curiosity got the better of me and I just put some in my cart.
Learning how to frame your eyes in the most flattering way is no easy feat.
Many among us may have committed all kinds of crimes against the eyebrow; from overtweezing to tadpole shapes to insisting on a line that is not natural to you.
Fortunately, with time and practice one finds what best suits ones features. You simply use a spoolie and some scissors to cut long hairs and some tweezers to get rid of the ones that grow outside your shape. And once peace has been signed with what mother nature provided, we want to help our eyebrows to look their best.
The first type of product that I ever used was a pencil. Initially I was really reluctant to follow the advice I had been given and give my too short eyebrows a little tail with a brown eye pencil.
I ended liking the effect and fortunately I found more appropriate shades than dark brown and more appropriate formulas as well.
These days I am using Kiko Precision Eyebrow Pencil in 03 (5,90€) which is a medium brown shade that leans a bit warm. It is perfect to harmonize my black eyebrows with my dark brown hair.
Those that know me can confirm that I have some obsessive tendencies. If I like a book, song or an eye pencil I will find myself wanting to have other books by the same author, songs by the same singer and eye pencils in the same formula.
So it will not surprise you that after having loved the Powerpoint Eye Pencilin Buried Treasure that I was introduced to in a MAC Technique session a year ago, I found myself itching to get my hands on some more Powerpoint Eye Pencils.
Also, for a while there it seemed that all the blogosphere was talking about this permanent little gem that is the Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul, I am mostly blaming Karen though, so of course it too had to come home with me.
Aaaah Sundays! That day of the week you get to walk the dog, read your book or paint your nails. Or do anything that it is that you do not have time for during the week. At least it is for many people. Me? I am one of those that works so that others enjoy their free time so it is indeed a rare Sunday that I get to have a free day.
Perhaps it is because today I was free to be lazy that this week’s summary is longer than I tend to.
In the “upcoming releases I am excited about” we have MAC’s Prolongwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation which hasn’t arrived yet to my store but should be arriving really soon.
Also, I loved the Ombre Matte cream eyeshadows that Clarins released a few months back, so I am really excited to hear that there will be three new Ombre Iridiscent LE shades (heard here).
